ALIGN participated as a sponsor in the Funding the Commons Tokyo that took place in Shibuya, Tokyo. In it Ryota Kanai of ALIGN talked in a panel with Cui Jia Wei of g0v & vTaiwan and Gimmy Chang of FAB DAO.

ALIGN Director Hiroshi Yamakawa appeared on ABEMA News on May 22 and explained the risks of future AI and AI alignment.

ALIGN translated the lecture by Yoshua Bengio, organized by the Matsuo-Iwasawa Lab and the Japanese Deep Learning Association (JDLA) held at the University of Tokyo’s Hongo Campus on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Professor Bengio, who leads the current debate on AI governance from the standpoint of an AI expert, explains the coming problems of AI safety in an accessible way and calls on researchers in Japan to enter the field of AI safety. It is a valuable lecture, and the exchanges with Professor Yutaka Matsuo and Professor Arisa Ema are also well worth reading.

ALIGN participated in Technical AI Safety Conference (TAIS) 2024, where world leading technical AI safety researcher gathered in Tokyo, as a sponsor.

ALIGN directors Hiroshi Yamakawa and Ryota Kanai gave talks at the Japan AI Alignment Symposium 2024, a student-led event fostering multistake holder discussion on AI alignment/governance.

Ryota Kanai (director of ALIGN) participated in the Singapore Conference on AI (SCAI) on 4-6 Dec. 2023 as an AI expert.
